A Danish B2B filtration distributor selling to professional buyers across European markets

Nordic Filtration distributes industrial filtration and measuring equipment to professional buyers, built by a team with deep roots in Scandinavian filtration. Its customers don't shop like consumers — they purchase through company accounts, approval and requisition workflows, with VAT handling, negotiated expectations on stock and delivery, and ERP-connected back-office processes. That meant a standard Magento storefront had to be reshaped around how B2B procurement really works, across multiple languages and markets, without disrupting customers or internal teams.

The challenge

What wasn't working

Nordic Filtration needed Magento to be more than an online store — it had to mirror a B2B sales operation. As the business grew, off-the-shelf Magento couldn't keep up with how professional buyers actually order, and the gaps surfaced in both the buying journey and the back office.

  • Standard Magento didn't speak B2B. Company accounts, approval workflows, requisition handling, VAT-related processes and customer-specific business data aren't native to Magento Open Source — yet they were exactly what professional buyers needed to purchase with confidence.
  • Buyers couldn't trust stock and delivery. Without tight ERP-driven stock updates, availability statuses and accurate delivery estimates, customers faced uncertain purchasing information — and uncertainty stalls B2B orders and creates support load.
  • An always-on platform burden across customers and staff. Security, checkout performance, inventory accuracy, SEO visibility, integrations and Magento upgrades all needed continuous attention — and any instability hit both the storefront and the internal teams running daily operations.
