Multi-market European commerce that ships the complicated stuff — correctly, every order

Filter-Online multilingual Magento storefront homepage

THE CLIENT

A Danish industrial filtration retailer selling across European markets on multilingual Magento

Filter-Online specializes in water and liquid filtration products, serving both B2B and B2C buyers across Denmark, Scandinavia and the rest of Europe from one multilingual Magento 2 store (Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English and German). Its catalog spans light parcels and heavy pallet-only equipment subject to dangerous-goods and freight rules — so the platform has to reconcile complex logistics, ERP-driven operations, multiple payment methods and localized journeys, all without disrupting daily trade.

On this project, our primary point of contact has been Lucas, who manages the technical coordination on the client's side. He is an excellent partner to work with — clear and responsive in communication, technically fluent in Magento and server infrastructure, and consistently willing to trust our team with the autonomy to deliver the right solutions.

The challenge

What wasn't working

As the platform expanded across markets, complexity compounded faster than a small team could manage alone — and every weak point hit a specific country, customer type or product category, where it quietly cost orders or created compliance risk.

  • Shipping logic had to model the real physical world. Delivery options depended on product type, pallet requirements, dangerous-goods restrictions, destination country, customer type (B2B/B2C) and weight. Get any rule wrong and customers saw invalid or mispriced delivery options — blocking sales and risking non-compliant shipments.
  • Checkout and payments broke in market-specific ways. Progression failures, validation issues, cart-synchronization problems, payment-method conflicts and store-view-specific defects each meant a lost transaction in a particular locale or with a particular provider (PayPal, Klarna, ViaBill, cards).
  • A heavy, always-on maintenance burden across five locales. Magento upgrades, security patching, catalog accuracy, search indexing, SEO integrity (hreflang, redirects, structured data) and ERP synchronization all needed continuous attention — and any gap could hit rankings, data integrity or uptime across every market at once.

The solution

What we built

Encomage runs Filter-Online's ongoing Magento engineering, optimization and maintenance, with a single priority: operational reliability and long-term maintainability. Each workstream targets a specific source of risk.

Platform modernization & upgrade management.

Supported Magento upgrade cycles and security-patch releases — compatibility validation, dependency management, regression testing, frontend stabilization and post-release monitoring.

Shipping & logistics engineering.

Built and refined custom shipping logic for country-specific delivery, pallet-only products, dangerous-goods restrictions, weight-based calculations, pickup-only scenarios, freight rules and B2B/B2C workflows.

Checkout & payment stabilization.

Continuously resolved progression failures, validation issues, cart-sync problems, payment-method conflicts and store-view-specific defects across all providers.

ERP & integration support.

Maintained and optimized ERP synchronization, product-data flows, pricing feeds, operational exports and third-party services to cut data inconsistencies and integration failures.

SEO, search & localization.

Improved URL handling, redirects, hreflang, structured data and indexing, plus multilingual content and translations across Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English and German store views.

Security & operational protection.

Regular patching, vulnerability mitigation, fraud prevention, spam-order protection, consent improvements and operational monitoring to reduce business risk.

Delivery options computed from product type, weight, pallet and dangerous-goods rules

Delivery options computed for the real world — product type, weight, pallet rules, dangerous-goods limits, destination and B2B/B2C all factored in. Customers now see valid, correctly priced shipping every time, with zero invalid options across products and countries.

THE RESULT

What changed for the business

Filter-Online now runs on a Magento foundation that stays stable through continuous development, upgrades and growing requirements. Customers across every market see valid, correctly priced delivery options; checkout and payments are more reliable across providers and store views; search, SEO and catalog data hold together across five locales; and ongoing patching, fraud prevention and monitoring keep business risk down. The outcome isn't one headline spike — it's a complex, multi-market store that keeps trading correctly, day after day, with room to expand.

↑ Checkout success

More reliable checkout and payments across store views and every provider, so fewer transactions fail mid-funnel.

↓ Order errors

Shipping logic models product, weight, pallet and dangerous-goods rules per country: valid, correctly priced delivery options, zero invalid options across products and countries.

5 locales in sync

URLs, redirects, hreflang, structured data and translations hold together across Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, German and English store views.

Stable upgrades

The platform keeps taking Magento upgrades and security patches without destabilizing daily trade across markets.

See It In Action

One Magento 2 platform serving five localized European store views

One Magento 2 platform, five localized store views — Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, German and English — each with the right language, pricing and delivery journey for its market.

Checkout stabilized across PayPal, Klarna, ViaBill and card payments

Checkout stabilized across every provider — PayPal, Klarna, ViaBill and cards — with market-specific progression and validation defects resolved, so transactions complete instead of failing mid-funnel.

Freight and delivery rules for heavy, pallet-only and hazardous items on the product page

Heavy, pallet-only and hazardous items carry the right freight and delivery rules on the product page — so complex goods can be sold correctly and shipped compliantly.
